Shortlisted ! :D
I recently participated in the Designboom contest in collaboration with Macef and -surprise!- I’ve been selected to be shortlisted (I didn’t win, tough) !
The theme of the contest was “the Intelligent Hand”, which is the hand of a craftsman who express a great awareness of what real design is, by adapting his skills to the substance he’s working on. I decided to celebrate lacquerer skills by creating a mirror only made by lacquered wood. The intelligent hand of the lacquerer, must do a very precise work to make the surface of the mirror completely glossy, a process unobtainable with an industrial setup, because sprayed lacquer is always irregular, and can’t reflect properly.
